Flora Cameron Crichton Memorial Grove

Flora Cameron Atherton Crichton (1925-2019) was a San Antonio philanthropist and civic leader who served on the original executive committee of Hemisfair in 1968.
A generous supporter of civic projects, Mrs. Crichton made a gift to San Antonio of the 5-ton mosaic mural, “Confluence of Civilizations in the Americas,” on the façade of the Lila Cockrell Theater at Hemisfair. Created by renowned Mexican artist Juan O’Gorman, the mural depicts the cultures of Latin America and Europe, connected by an underlying river of change and progress which has resulted from their confluence.
Mrs. Crichton was an early supporter of the redevelopment of Hemisfair as a civic park with a gift of oak trees. After her death in 2019, the trustees of the Flora Cameron Foundation wanted to honor her with the Flora Cameron Crichton Mural Grove, a place to rest in the shade and enjoy the beautiful mural she gave to the city.
