Henry Bartell Zachry, Jr.

Henry Bartell Zachry, Jr., grew up learning the values of integrity, hard work and civic responsibility. He graduated from Texas A&M University, was commissioned into the United States Air Force and trained as a fighter pilot.

He took over the leadership of the company founded by his father and led it for more than 50 years. Under his guidance, the company experienced tremendous growth while always staying focused on its amazing people.

Bartell married Mollie Steves and their 60-year marriage was marked by adventure. He loved traveling, flying kites and airplanes, the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and in later years reveling in the company of his wife, children and grandchildren.

Bartell served on many Boards and gave generously of his time and resources, particularly those focused on the importance of education. He believed in the goodness of people and loved the cultures of San Antonio and its community celebrations and reverence to history.
